Insect bombing a basement without emptying the house

Question

I was wondering if there is any other way to bomb my basement for insects other than hiring a professional or using a fogger/bomber. We have alot of pets in the house and it would be hard to get all of them out while the fogger was triggered. Also the room itself is for the most part, unfinished. there is no ceiling and there is a dividing wall but it is open to the rest of the basement.

Any suggestions or home remedies would be helpful.

You'll have to find a way to get everyone out while the bug bombs are going off: Somehow I don't think you want your pets breathing that poison. Not to mention you'll want to treat the whole house so the pests won't have a safe hiding place.

Now, you don't say what kind of bug problem you have. But you might be able to treat your basement with Borax or Diatomaceous Earth and just plain keep the pets out of the basement.

     I have my wood-working shop full of tools on one side of the basement, the other side is my spouses quilt making shop. Being in the basement brought on many new problems that were expensive.

      I cleaned the entire basement with my huge shop-vac, then I sprayed, white paint, the ceiling, or joists. Then I put in eight foot shop lights and benches. Now, to keep it clean and insect free we clean it once a  week, either her or me.

      I usually have a mess, I have a lathe and saws down there along with routers, they are messy. I spray for insects about every week, under the benches, when I start seeing webs, I vac the ceiling again and, spray

     It works for us.

No need to do much of anything.  The foggers are meant to be heavier than air, and the chemicals are supposed to sink down.  I wouldn't even leave the house unless I smelled the fumes STRONGLY.
