My 2 year old son seems to attract ants. everytime my kids go out side to play he comes in with ant bites. I have tried OFF and it did nothing. Is there an insect repelent or anything else out there I can put on him to keep the ants away? He never even seems to know they are on him and they dont seem to bother him.I hate to let my other 2 children play outside and not let him in the yard. Also I do stay in the yard with them most of the time we live in a very rural area and have several acres so it is not unsafe for me to let them leave my sight while they are playing so just to save anyone with comments to that effect from haveing to type it all i thought id get that out in the air.

  1. Use a mix of cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle it here and there. The ants will come and pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it back to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die without her.  For keeping them off of your child and healing his bites you could try Burt's Bee's line of outdoor products.  You can buy it off the internet.  If there is a health food store in the area you can probably find it there.  Since you live in a rural area, the internet is probably your best bet.  Good luck to you and your poor little guy!

  2. Try Natrapel plus that contains no deet. It works great for me.

  3. Are you positive they are ant bites?  Have you thought about mosquitos??  This is more likely considering you live in a rural area.  We have ants all over our backyard and they have never bitten my kids.  Mosquitos on the other hand....  I hate those little suckers.  My poor kids are covered with bites regardless of what I spray on them.  I try and keep them covered as much as possible and I suggest doing the same for your son as well.  If ants truly are the problem, have you considered having a portion of your yard (where he plays) sprayed for such pests.  This may be the only way to prevent bites of this kind in the future.

  4. I don't know of something that can keep ants from your baby, but maybe you should consider getting rid of the ants.  Chemicals are dangerous for your children, so try this:

Mix honey & yeast and put it at the entrance of the nest.  Hope it works!
