Insect spraying...baby's room?

I have not asked the bug people, nor would I "really" believe their answers unless having supporting answers from you folks, but when they spray in the house and outside, would it be okay for them to spray in my baby's room? I haven't had her yet (37 weeks 2 days) but there are spiders and stuff that make their way into the house, no matter how sealed it is and I wouldn't want her to get bit by anything...Should I have them spray in her room?

  1. I would not have them spray anywhere around you when your pregnant or a new baby. Those chemical are terrible. Outside ok inside no way!

  2. I wouldn't. Just clean the room really well with natural cleansers and use a little lavender or rosemary essential oil in the mop water.

  3. My son was a newborn and we sprayed the house inside out. But were advised 2 stay at mumz overnite cos of my son and to wash all linen toy etc it came in contact with. PLUS DONT FORGET IT WILL AFFECT YOU AND THE BABY IF YOUR PREGNANT .trust me it stinks, all the chemicals. My cousin slept at my place for 1 nite wen she was pregnant cos its harmful.

  4. I have five kids and we spray for insects monthly outside. Once the inside of your home is treated, it tends to last a long time, especially if you have a monthly outside routine. Just follow the pest control technician's advice and your baby will do fine. Like you, I worry about spiders and roaches. No sense letting the baby worry about those so early in life...or later for that matter! I recommend talking with some friends from work or church who could refer you to someone they've worked with for awhile. God bless.

  5. its not a big deal. get rid of the bugs.

  6. there are enviromentally safe sprays that can be sprayed even in the babies room. Just be sure to wash the bedding, any clothes laying out, and suffed animals out just to be on the safe side. Also make sure that the house and room is aired out for at least 24 hours before the baby enters it. Good Luck!

  7. Hello.Spiders are a natural part of life and food for birds etc.We would also be overrun by flies without spiders to trap them in their webs.

WOULDN'T HAVE THEM SPRAY AS THESE ARE NASTY CHEMICALS TO PUT INTO ANY ENVIRONMENT.Dogs are a lot hardier than a new baby.

  8. It should be okay. Just make sure to cover the furniture, vacuum after-wards, open the windows and wash any clothes or blankets that were exposed.

  9. Find out if the insect spray is safe for your baby. Some of those sprays can be dangerous.

  10. I would say no...just because there are some natural alternatives that aren't harmful to baby.  You could dust around the very edges of the room with ditomaceous earth, or on the outside of the house, sprinkle burned rosemary or dried tansy.

I've had 3 little ones, and mosquitoes are the worst thing they've had a run in with. I've never used bug repellent of any kind in their rooms, and haven't had a problem with spiders or bites (besides the rogue mosquito that sneaks in).
