Help for 3 years i have been playing fly - half and then my coach started me at inside centre to let naother girl try in my position turns out she wasn`t very good but now my coach has given me the choice between playing fly - half or inside centre

I can tackle pritty good and the rugby developer round my area says i have the natural fly - half talent, i can kick and i drop goals and place kick for my team. I can read game situations and have a long accurate pass but at fly - half i don`t get much chance to run with the ball whereas at inside centre i was scoring tries all the time, but at fly half i can set people up fr those tries by reading the game. I can side step almost anyone so thats a plus for playind inside centre but i dunno help which position should i choose.

  1. which position do you really enjoy the most?? what player do you admire the most ,the inside centre or fly half. if you are at inside centre you can still kick the ball.

look at it this way. if a player came into the team that was brilliant and took either position off you . which position would you be the most dissapointed losing?

the first answere that pops into your head is usually the right one.

best of luck, and keep up the good performances whatever the position.

  2. Good question! I think it is important to remember sport teaches you so much about life and living. All too often we forget that when playing sport. What you have identified is your ability to read the game. A good fly half has to know all his/her teams strengths and weaknesses. Distributing the ball and deciding the directional play is a rare quality which is why you only get one fly-half in a team.

Personally, I would choose the position that best suits who you are as a person. As you grow as a player you will grow as a person. For me, the team always came before myself. If I can get someone else over the line I was happy. Go strong.

  3. Hey, it sounds like you enjoy your rugby so that is a good start.

The choice for you is a difficult one but really comes down to several factors.

Do you enjoy the fly half position more than the centre?

Do you want to be more involved with the game or just get the ball occasionally & score tries.

If you are in a team that gets the ball to you early as a centre then that makes it a harder decision but if the team mainly plays the ball in the forwards you will not be seeing much of the ball.

Scoring tries is great but setting the team up & creating tries can be just as rewarding. At fly half you control the game too so you can change the tactics of a game, make the choice to run the ball or kick for position and let the forwards have a bash at line-out & maul.

It sounds like you have a talent for both but for me stick with the fly-half position you will develop into a better player and still be able to go back to centre now & again, if you stay at centre you tend to lose the skills needed.

    Good luck with your choice.

  4. you sound like a pretty lethal attacking weapon  your highly confident thats good and you got a nice step even better you should stay as the first five create the breaks and let your backline finish them  and first fives can do whatever they want with the ball not every first five has to  kick the ball all the time
