Question:

Inspiron 1150 - changing to processor with HT

My 5 year old Dell Inspiron 1150 has a 2.6 GHz Celeron and 512 MB RAM and just bogs down when I process hi-def video files to standard definition. I've decided to increase RAM and replace the Celeron with a Pentium 4 to get the larger on-chip cache and the socket 478 P4s all seem to have hyperthreading. I doubt my board will support HT so the question is will it just ignore HT or will it cause a problem? Anyone have any horror stories along this line? Thanks!Don
