I have an Inspiron 1525 laptop and I am trying to play DVDs in it, when I put the DVD in nothing happens but I find it on my computer and I click play and Windows Media Player opens but then it shuts off. Why is it doing this? And what can I do to fix it?

  1. You need a Media player that can play dvd's; as you can see WMP can't. Install and use http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ - it would be a good ideea to make it your default player.

Edit: install VLC and, during install, at Choose components  tick File associations; click Start, All Programs, Set Program Access and Defaults, Custom and at Choose a default media player select My current.. , OK.
