My laptop won't turn on. I ran the battery dead then plugged it in and charged it for a couple hours still nothing. When I press the power button the green light turns on showing plugged in and power turned on. But I get nothing on the screen. Nor does the green light turn on that'ss always on when its running(middle light). I have tried to plug in a external monitor, keyboard, mouse still nothing. I tried to put a cd in and the drive turns on lights up but doesn't run. HELP PLEASE???

  1. This happened to my laptop a few weeks ago.  It is most likely your motherboard.  The worst thing ironically to do to your laptop is use it on your lap(or any soft surface)  because it prevents ventilation.  Therefore, your computer overheats and over time this will wear out your motherboard.  Hopefully you have the warranty on it, because otherwise it is rather expensive.  Since it is a laptop I wouldn't recommend fixing it yourself unless you are really good with computers.  The best thing is to have it serviced.

  2. Hi dear

did u try holding power button for long time...hold it and shut the machine off..

open BIOS and check if your video is disabled by mistake ...

    check again

    good luck

  3. Two things to try first:

Hold down the power button for a good 10 seconds then release it. Hopefully this will fully turn the thing off, now just press the power button and see if it boots.

If no joy, unplug the laptop, remove the battery, re-plug the laptop and try to start it.

    Let us know what happens.

  4. Sounds complex. you might have to do something called as a PSA diagnostics to identify the issue. I suggest u call Dell tech support. they will guide u through the process

  5. Take the battery out completely, and try to boot it up with the power cable only.  If that works, then put the battery back in.  If you put the battery back in and it stops working, then you need a new battery.

  6. If suggestion one doesn't work, for the first answerer, your other idea is to remove the battery, unplug the power cord from the computer and press and hold the power button down for 60 seconds, then connect back up and try again.

That usually works just fine for me, and, if it doesn't work, then just plug it in, leave the computer plugged on and hooked up and let the battery charge for 24 hours.
