  1. There may be a chemical present in the water. Have the water analyzed at a water treatment store.  If there's a specific agent causing the smell, they should be able to tell you how to handle it in your laundry.

  2. Are you washing in cold water?  Try using warm water.

  3. If you leave your clothes sitting in the washing machine for a while before you dry then they can get mildewy.

Wash all your whites with a bit of bleach to kill the mildew.  Then wash your darker colors with a cup a vinegar.

  4. Try adding some baking soda to your wash.  If this does not work you may want to go to Sam's Warehouse and get some ODABAN.  It is sold by the gallon in a jug with a spray bottle attached.  This is concentrated and works great on everything.  I love it!

EDIT:  If this is still not working you may want to check your pea trap and make sure it is not stopped up.  This may cause odors to come back up into your washer.

  5. use febreze

  6. I would use 1 to 1 1/2 cups distilled white vinegar in the rinse cycle. When dried it will not smell. Maybe your water smells? Maybe you're leaving the clothes in the washer too long causing the smell?
