Question:

Install spigot from water tap?

We just had a sewer and water tap done on some property that we'll be using for an RV. We'd like to install a spigot from the water tap for use on the property (such as watering plants, cleaning the boat, etc.) How can this be done? (And does it HAVE to be done by a plumber? We really would like to do it ourselves and save some $$$). Thanks!

  1. This is may be easy to do depending on the frost line where it will be. Ask for frost-proof hydrants at your local hardware or big box store. The only difficulty will be digging up the line to get the connection below frost level. They install with just normal plumbing tools and fittings suitable for underground use. Just average skills are involved here. Once they are installed they are lockable and there is no maintenance involved. The folks who installed the water tap can guide you with this and I am surprised that they did not do this in the beginning as it is a logical need and very easy to do when the trench was open with the water tap. Hope this helps.
