i have just downloaded ubuntu-8.04 from the web and i want to install it but it is asking me what to open it with .

now what should i do, it is an ISO File

  1. Burn it onto a DVD or CD, i would advise you to use a DVD because sometims CDs shows data errors

    Use infra-recorder iso burner > click 'Actions' tab > 'Burn Image' > browse for iso file.


  2. You should download NERO from the internet or you can also download "Alchohol 120%". These programs can open ISO (*.iso) files and Image (*.img), (*.rng)  

  3. You're going to need cd/dvd burning software (eg. Nero). ISO file is a disk image of the cd/dvd. You will need to burn the cd/dvd image anyways because you'll need to use it as a boot disk to install the OS.

  4. You have to burn it to a cd first.  Or install a program that opens ISO files.  ISO files are cd images that any burning software can decipher.
