Installed SH-S202 dvd writer some

Installed SH-S202 dvd writer some time ago, and since that time have experienced shut down problems on my Dell with XP pro. It never shuts down, but seems to go into Standby mode first. Then, when it comes out of stand by mode, it shuts down. Is there a patch for this?
