Installing 6 x 9'' Clarions in parcel shelf?

Just wanting to know, Im going to install some new Clarion SRR6946 6 x 9'' speakers in the parcel shelf of my car, which currently has stock 6 x 6'' speakers in it. I know that Im going to have to cut bigger holes in the parcel shelf to fit them and what not etc etc, my question how ever is "Is it necessary to use brand new speaker wire when installing the clarions" ...The stock wiring currently hooked up to the stock speakers is perfectly fine and in good condition, so do I really need to rewire it, or will the clarions work just as good with the speaker wire already in the car???

Thanks!

  1. many aftemarket manufacturers make adapters to make a 6" hole adapt to fit a 6x9 hole, but his depends on vehicle and how popular it is for stereo installs, check out wwwCRUTCHFIELD.com or metraonline.com to see if your vehicle compatible.if the underside of your parcel shelf is flat, that 6x9 can be mounted below the parcel shelf unerder the 6" hole and as long as the 6" hole is right in the center of the 6x9 all the sound will come through and will sound great, as i haver done this before. avoid cutting anytime you can.

  2. dude-  cut the hole, do it right

Don't worry about the wires, i'm sure the factory ones are fine.  if you're running an amplifier, i'd run new speaker wires, but if not don't worry about it.

you will have to cut off the factory wire connectors, and then figure out which one is positive and which one is negative.  This is important because if youhave one right and the other one wrong, one speaker will be vibrating up while the other is vibrating down, cancalling the bass out from each other.
