Question:

Installing Battlefield 1942 with Vista?

So, I bought Battlefield 1942 a while back (about a year and a half ago) and I just bought a new Windows Vista operating system (64 bit). So, I am installing Battlefield and the 1st disc goes very smoothly. However, when I get to the 2nd disc it can not register that it is there, and keeps asking for the data3.cab. So, i go over and enter the path to it but it says nothing is in there. When i hover over the icon it says "322 mb" but when i click on it nothing.

Please help me solve this problem.

  1. Could be a problem reading your CD/DVD.  If there are scratches etc...

Also when you run the installer, you might want to check to make sure you run it in compatibility mode.  You are on a 64bit vista platform and that game was made for 32bit Windows XP.

  2. What you have there is a curropted disk, you need to EXCHANGE for a new one, its not Vista is the CD not reading correctly
