Question:

Installing Downspout Drain Lines to Direct Water to Street?

So I am installing drain lines that will take gutter water all the way from my back yard to the front yard where the slope will help take it to the street. There is no way I am going to be ripping up the sidewalk, etc, etc, so I am think about discharging it into a large row of bushes to not only hide it better but also to reduce erosion. What kind of product do you recommend? Home Depot sells a Pop up type cap that "floats" up when it gets filled with water, and the water safely "bubbles" up to safety. Otherwise I am just going to leave this pipe hanging half out of the ground, which could possibly get damaged, etc. I could also cut a small piece out of my driveway, then patch up the driveway, pouring the new concrete around the new pipe to protect it.

What do you think? Any information is much appreciated.

  1. My friend, you need to read your own question. When you get to the part that starts with Home Depot....... There is your answer. Good luck and god bless. Have faith in yourself.

  2. To let the water exit into the bushes have you thought about putting a Tee in the line and spreading the water out?  Maybe use perforated pipe to help it disperse and provide water to all the bushes.  I live in a drought prone area and like to use as much rain water as possible.  Sending it to the street here would be a waste.

  3. is this what you are talking about?
