How to Installing Lexmark X1180 Printer?

Question

I am having propblems installing a Lexmark X1180 printer on my Evesham Evolution running XP home
The printer works perfectly on windows 98 on my other computers
XP plug and play discovers the divice but identifies it as an unknown device a USB hub proceeds to look for the driver on the installation disc can"t find it then sulks.
Entered in the device manage is a USB hub with the yellow ! warning
There are of course several other USB hubs lower down in the device manager list.
Lexmark say delete these and XP will refind them which it does.This was of no help.
I have 2 USB1 ports and 2 USB2 ports all work perfectly with other devices.
I can install the Lexmark progam the hard way direct from the disk but then the message is Can"t  connect to the printer.
Any ideas as what to try next

To install the Lexmark X1180 All-in-One Printer driver, download the version of the driver that corresponds to your operating system by clicking on the appropriate link above. A window should then show up asking you where you would like to save the file. Save the driver file somewhere on your computer where you will be easily able to find it, such as your desktop. Then follow the instructions below corresponding to the file type that you downloaded

Go to the location where you saved the file and double click on the file. Then simply follow the on-screen instructions for installing the driver.
