On install it gives me options, if I click delete partition will I then be able to select NTFS or is it not that simple. I don't want to mess it up so some guidance would be appreciated.

  1. go to help and support. type how to convert fat32 to ntfs. you get the proper instruction on how to convert fat32 to ntfs.

  2. Yes it will allow this. Even if you do not there is the NT convert program built in, this allows you to use convert /FS:NTFS from the command prompt which will then change the system on re-boot. Do NOT use third party programs for this, they are more likely to destroy the system during conversion.

  3. Yes, it is that simple. Choose NTFS and that's it. But even if you didn't you can change it later using Acronis partition software or similar products. But better to do it from the beginning.

  4. After you select to delete the partition, you will have to create a new partition before you will get the options. It is during this create that you will be given the four options to format.

You've said "on install" so I assume you are re-installing XP or Vista. If you have multiple partitions, be aware of which one you are deleting and recreating.
