Installing a 2GB memory card in my video camera?

I have a Digital Video Camera[G-Shot DV1210] it has a built in 32MB memory. I purchased a 2GB memory card to extend this but it has made no difference.What am I doing wrong ? I simply clicked the 2GB memory card into the slot on the camera, is there anything else I should have done ? The instruction booklet is very vague on this matter..
