  1. Go for Pioneer real tough devices that are, imho, very reliable.

  2. to be honest, there are so many out there from liteon to hitachi but to be honest i use a lightscribe drive which burns the image of a picture onto the non copy-side of the disk (the top in other words).

the one i use is a SAMSUNG LIGHTSCRIBE DVD-RW DUAL LAYER.

    quite a good writer.

  3. I would recomment poineer, have 2 of these a DVR-115D and an older one DVR-109 I think. Very reliable, I've never had the drive mess up a disc, unlike some others I've owned before. Had problems with both a creative labs and a philips drive, I avoided Lite On because I had so many problems with CD-RW drives from them.

One other thing is you might want to consider using something other than Nero, It's not the best software and if you are converting avi files to DVD it dosn't allways do a good job, audio out of sync for example, convertXtoDVD is better although you would have to buy this, there are good free programs out there as well.

  4. So you are looking to buy a DVD burner not install one, when choosing your burner be sure to look for the burn speed and write speed because they are important when it comes to the copying and burning, usually written on the side of the box, pioneer manufactures a good drive for about $50 to $80 AUD followed by a few other brands such as samsung, try not to go for the ones with low price because they tend to be S****y, once again for the drive read write burn speeds look for drives with around the 56x capability. Hope this helped you.

  5. Cucusoft Video to DVD Creator is a good choice. It converts popular video formats such as AVI, MPEG, WMV, DivX, DV, VOB to DVD and burn DVD movie played on portable or home DVD player. Any video to to VCD/DVD/SVCD is even faster than real-time.

Unbiased reviews and side-by-side comparisons of the DVD creator give you enough information to research the ins and outs of a particular product:

  6. To be quite honest, it doesn't make much difference. They generally do the same thing. I'd avoid Philips drives though, as they always seem to have problems and wear out faster than other drives I've had.
