  1. A zip drive is similar to a floppy drive but instead of using floppy diskettes that hold only 1.44MB of data, they use a special proprietary disk that's thicker than a floppy.  Zip drives come in 3 configurations.... 100MB, 250MB and 750MB of data storage.

    You can buy USB zip drives.  That means they just plug into an existing USB port on your computer. Windows XP uses plug and play so it should automatically detect the zip drive and assign it a new drive letter.  When you click on My Computer (start > my computer) you should see the zip drive listed.  If for some reason XP does not automatically recognize it, the drive should come with installation software.  Iomega is one company that sells zip drives.  You can probably find others on eBay.
