If I buy a cd player with a 50x4 WATT BUILT IN AMP.

Is the 1000W 2Channel amplifier good to power two 400W speakers and perhaps two tweeters?

Will the speakers explode since the amp is more powerful ? And what can I do to prevent any damage?

  1. You can never buy an amp that is too powerful.

The amp can be tuned so that it will push out less / more power.

  2. Dont buy a radio for the internal amp. Your amp will blow the speakers!Your best bet is 2 run rca's to a small full range amp for your door speakers and the 1000 watt 4 a sub

  3. Manufacturers play games with wattage ratings especially in car audio.   That 1000watt output amplifier could mean peak-to-peak watts, peak wattage or RMS wattage. RMS rating is the most realistic and the most accurate indicator of actual performance.    1000 watts peak-to -peak equals around 350 watts RMS.   Having speakers that are rated at 400 watts usually means the speakers can handle 400 watts before the voice coil is overheated  and  destroyed.  That also depends on how the speakers were rated by the manufacturer.  To be safe the speakers should be able to handle more watts than the amplifier can put out.   Before you go ahead with that installation I would ask some pointed questions of the dealer or manufacturer.
