  1. it depends on the RMS wattage that is needed

if they require any more than about 40watts RMS each then they will sound s**+tty as you turn the volume up because the radios internal amp is not powerful enough to power them so it over works the radios amp which makes the radio hotter and it starts clipping which causes distortion-- distortion is the main cause of speaker damage

    Clipping

Clipping occurs when an amplifier is asked to deliver more current to a speaker than the amp is capable of doing. When an amplifier clips, it literally cuts off the tops and bottoms of the musical waveforms that it's trying to reproduce, thus the term. This introduces a huge amount of distortion into the output signal. Clipping can be heard as a crunching sound on musical peaks.

  2. you can install them without an amp, but the sound might not be so good since most stock radios don't put out much wattage.

  3. If they are of high wattage, meaning more than 75 watts rms, then you will need an amplifier. Other wise you can get away without one.

  4. yes you can but you wont get the power they need. it will sound clean but they will only give you the power the stock stereo will put out
