Installing a .dmg file onto a apple mac?

Hiya, How would i go about installing a .dmg file onto an apple mac and would i need any additional software to aid me in my task? because from what ive read it sounds like the equivalent of a .exe file on a Windows PC. any info is much appreciated

double click it and it will do the rest. a .dmg file is not like a .exe fiel, its a type of compression format.

Simply double-click it to open and activate it.

Things are easier on Macs!
