Installing a new CPU with a different FSB?

I am installing a new processor in my computer that has a faster FSB than the previous one. I thought i could just throw it in and it would work but its not working at all. I am going from a Pentium D 930 to a Core 2 Duo E7300. I am wondering if I need to change some setting on the motherboard. I have an ASUS P5LD2 motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131538)

My motherboard says that it works with both 1066 and 800 FSB speeds.

  1. Is not that simple, FSB just meant it can run at that speed, CPU support is another matter, your board only supports 65nm while the E7300 is 45nm so thats a no no, and nothing yuo can do to upgrade the board, so new board it is for you

  2. listen up! fsb is just a "train" with info that run to the processor from the rest of the devices , of course the bigger number the better it is! BUT duo core processors needs a different motherboard that has different "structure" for the duo core processor.. so you need to invest some money  bc it is a good one!

  3. You cannot just look at what FSB it supports. You're motherboard does not support the Core 2 series processors; it only supports "Pentium D / Pentium 4 HT / Celeron D."
