Installing a shower head?

I just moved into a new apartment and am trying to replace my shower head with a hand held shower head. I have tried to take the old one down with a 8 in wrench but it won't come off. What do I do? Is there an easy way to remove the old shower head easily. I didn't have a problem last time I did it but this one just won't come off!

If really hard to remove you need to be careful in order to not brake the pipe in the wall as the new ones are copper and copper is a soft metal. Your 8 in wrench I assume is a crescent wrench? If the fitting is built up with water deposits try soaking the whole joint in vinegar overnight. place a plastic bag over and fill the bag with vinegar.
