Installing dishwasher and new cabinets Do we run water lines & drain through cabinets or under cabinets?

A bit of disagreement between the cabinet installers and the plumber. Plumber says through the cabinets in case there is a leak. Installer says they've done hunderds of kitchens and they always run them under the cabinets, through the gables. Any help appreciated...thx!

  1. If you have any common sense you will run through the cabinets! That way, if there is a leak you will not have to tear out your cabinets to fix it; that is, AFTER you find it. If the hook-ups are under the cabinets, it may take awhile to discover the leak and then you may have to deal with the issue of a rotten floor and rotten cabinets.

  2. yes through the cabinets the plumbers right otherwise if you have a leak you'll have to remove the cabinets and you wont notice the leak until you have a big mess

  3. Hm-m-m.....

I think I'd go with the plumber on this one. He'll be the guy you're calling later when you have a leak. Oh, and there will be a leak eventually. It's in the primary rules of home ownership somewhere!! : D
