Installing fedora 6 on sata hard disk?

i need to install Linux in my pc along with Windows xp.but i have been told that my pc hs SATA hard disk and linux does not support it.i will have to replace it by IDE hard disk.

is this solution good? i dont have much knowledge about this stuff but sata is faster than ide.

so is there any other solution? is there any version of linux which supports sata? plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help.

  1. I have Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) and it supports my SATA hard drive with no trouble at all, didn't even realise there could be a problem!


  2. I know fedora 7,8, and 9 support SATA Chip sets. You may want to download 9, it's open source and free. This way you can still maintain a SATA HD.

    You will need either the i386 dvd or cds

    Also remember you will need to install windows XP first and leave free space for the installation of Fedora...Fedora can only be installed on the free space available.
