  1. Through the top of what? The breaker cabinet? The roof of the cabin? Specify!!! If you mean the breaker cabinet, you can use either the top, bottom or side, depending on the cabinet and wire drop locations. But check local codes to ensure that you are following them correctly.

  2. Yes, you mount it between the studs.  You can come out of the top or bottom of the panel depending on which is easier and closer.  You would want to come out of the top, for anything that runs for a long distance, because you can run it in the attic space.  If you are only going to an outlet a few feet away, then the bottom is fine.  The holes in the side are for a flush mount, on like a block wall.  Make sure you use romex connectors in the knockouts for protection of the romex.

  3. Typically, your power comes in from your service line from the weather head, and then into a disconnect, then to your meter base, then to your 200 amp service panel. Most I have done through the bottom of the service panel, since your main disconnect is at the top, you bring your romex in through the bottom to feed your disconnect. Then the balance of your breakers are underneath and feed your power where ever through the top. They have "knock outs" so you can do it just about anywhere, this is what I have seen, and done over the years. I would check all of your codes before doing this though, since the laws change frequently.

    Goodluck,

  4. If it's on an exterior wall, you might want to consider

framing the panel in a chase.

    * You want to insulate that wall. If the panel is a 'cold spot' you loose heat and you might get condensation in the panel.

    * You can get allt he circuits in the top & bottom of a

40 ckt. Panel, but its a bit tight.

    * If you ever have to add circuits after the walls are

    in, it makes it easier.
