Installing oracle 8i

Question

i had a problem regarding the installation of oracle 8i..this happens when i reformat one of my workstation hdd..my server is running under windows 2000 pro..and my other workstation is running on windows xp pro.i had no problem with the other workstation especially in windows xp pro..my network connection with the server and my formated workstation is ok..i can ping the server vice versa..the error msg arise "there was a problem opening the staging area.please make that the sure you have specified is valid..
pls help me..
