does it matter how you lay the pad down? Someone said you should lay it down perpendicular to how the carpet will lay.

  1. Doesn't matter how you lay the pad. Usually I try to lay it so I wont have to fill in a bunch of little strips. If there was existing pad down before & it was ripped up, usually I try to go the opposite way.

  2. It is best to run the pad perpendicular, only if the carpet is going to be seamed (pieced) together.  You do not want a seam in the pad to be directly under a seam in the carpet, as this may stress the seam.  Elsewise, it makes no difference.

  3. Doesnt really matter, but make sure you use duct tape over the seams so it wont pop up on you, staple the carpet to the wood floor.

Don't use a cheap pad, you will regret it, a good pad makes the carpet last longer.

  4. its fine either way you lay it..steve
