1. If the jamb needs replacing how much trouble is that?

2. Any replacement window recommendations?

3. Would a house this old need anything other than the regular replacement windows?

It has aluminum siding also.

  1. It all depends on if your gonna replace the windows with the same size that are in it now. They can make them any size you want but you probably want them bigger so there is some work to do this and you might need a buddy to help, I like the Anderson brand double pane with the easy clean design where they fold to allow easy cleaning from the inside but you should get some quotes to save some money. you will need to remove all molding and trim and re-frame the jam's to fit the size you go with pull or cut nails in sides, top,and bottom with whatever they used 2x4's or such. They will need to fit good and square and you will need to cut the siding enough to allow the fit because you will bend the aluminum trying to remove it and by the way if you wanted to change the siding you could get enough money out of the aluminum siding at a scrap yard to pay for the vinyl siding. Well you could check out a book from your library to help with the project and good luck. From Kentucky!
