Question:

Instant Replay(for boxing)in the US?

I read that Japan recently has approved the use of instant replay to help with decisions such as whether a cut was caused by a punch or a headbutt...........to people who don't know boxing that well this would seem to be a pretty trivial matter but to the people who do know boxing you know that the decision on how a cut was caused is potentially huge and the wrong call can directly impact the outcome of a fight. They made it sound like they could review the call right after the round when the cut happened and then adjust the call if needed..............do you think this would be something that they could use in the states??? If they could put this in and the television broadcast would not be affected in anyway like the use of Instant replay in other sports then wouldn't this be good to have just to make sure the call was correct??? What do you guys think???

  1. yes that would be fair

  2. I absolutely agree with that rule, as long as it does not stop the action or interfere with the fight. It is not fair to a fighter that gets knocked down on a slip to have it ruled a knockdown just because the ref does not see it.

A ref's error should not cost a fighter the fight. Vice Versa if a fighter knocks a guy down and the ref calls it a slip that is not fair either.

It would take Referee error out of the picture. But the judges turn their scorecards in at the end of every round. So they would have to told before the round was over weather it was a legit call or not.

  3. ffloyd mayweather is the best

  4. This would be a good rule and i would like it to be introduced as long as no break in action was necessary mid round. If a video could be viewed and a decision reached between rounds then i would have no qualms with it.

It could be argued however that lowblows and head clashes should also be viewed between rounds and decided whether they were intentional and warnings and point deductions take place after that.

This is going to far but the argument could be made once a precedent in rule changes such as for video decisions for cuts has been reached.
