Instant Whip whips up an instant win in A2 race at Crayford
In every 380m greyhound race held at the Crayford Greyhound Track, the dogs who race the best usually win. Such could be said about Instant Whip as he dominated the A2 race held on Thursday
25 November.
A bounding start from trap three gave Instant Whip (4-1) a good early pace. However, he disputed and badly crowded at second, but would quickly rebound to lay claim on the top spot in
24.02. Second-place finisher Singalong Kate (6-1) forgot the lyrics to the victory song, as she missed a break early on. She would run on to finish 3¼ lengths behind the winner in 24.28.
Lil Elite (9-2) bumped the run up and crowded first. He would also challenge and crowd at the second bend en route to a 24.30 finish to lock up third place. He was only a neck’s length
out of the number two spot. Pennys Judy (4-1) was substituting in trap four for Connor Pass Joe, who did not race. She moved slowly away, and crowded both the first bend and the run up. She lost 2 lengths as a result, finishing in 24.46 to take fourth place.
Bigwood Sarah, the 9-4 favourite, held an early pace and led the run up to the halfway mark, but crowded badly. She went on to finish fifth with time of 24.50, a ½ length behind Pennys
Judy. Rounding out the pack was Lunar Rose (7-2). She crowded the quarter mark, finishing 2¼ lengths out of fifth place in 24.68.
The A3 race that was held later featured a trio of 5-2 co-favourites in Cuando Blue, Cotswold Breeze, and Kereight Nell. Only one of these three dogs ran off with the victory, and that
dog was Cuando Blue. Coming out of trap one, she bumped first, but rebounded to lead third and ultimately win the race in 23.78. Margan Lassy (9-2) disputed and crowded first, and led from the halfway mark to the third bend. She finished 2¼ lengths out of
first place in 23.96.
Cotswold Breeze, the second of the co-favourites, held an early pace, but challenged and crowded first, losing 3¼ lengths in the process. She placed third with a time of 24.22. Kereight
Nell, the last of the co-favourites, missed a break and crowded the quarter mark. Her time of 24.38 placed her 2 lengths out of the top three for a fourth-place finish.
Carden Mary (6-1) crowded the quarter, and ran on to finish a ½ length behind Kereight Nell in 24.42. Teds Gift (4-1) brought up the rear, crowding first and the quarter to finish in 24.48,
¾ lengths out of fifth place.
The races at the Crayford Greyhound Track are set to resume on Friday 26 November. The first race of the evening begins at 19:30.
