  1. Fasting is also supposed to help give you patience, as well as allow you to feel with the poor, also it is known to have some health benefits in cleaning the digestive system.  Fasting is done for yourself, not to help anyone. But giving to charity is also nice.

  2. It's not only about how others feel, mate. It teaches you patience. A LOT of patience. You don't get patience if you're giving charity.

Not everyone eats a lot after dusk, though. Some eat normally.

  3. Without fasting, people still know how dreadful it is to live without food or drink. So you see fasting is not about not eating or drinking during the day, but it is about sacrificing your most important thing in life.

  4. Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is required for you to fast. While you are fasting you are suppose to refrain from everyday evils such as lying, backbiting, smoking, .... Fasting is meant to teach humility and patience. You are basically trying to purify yourself through self-restraint and good deeds.

Yes it also makes you realize how poor people feel and you should give money to the needy and are supposed to. That is why we have zakaat.

There are many reasons we fast but these are just few. You are basically fasting for your own good.

  5. fasting is ordered and so is charity.

there are many families in my street who instead of breaking the fast with the traditional feast, they eat what poor people eat normally and then send the feast to the poor people. <3

  6. the fast is for Allah, it is something done only for Him, in devotion, it might also help empathy toward the poor but that is not why it is done.

  7. have you ever fasted? it feels like you have walked in some one eles shoes...  and Muslim's have to give to charity every year! you pay a certain % of your yearly wage to charity!

  8. The fact is we do not have to answer to you, Allah (swt) has made it compulsory for those who are sane and in good health to fast. The purpose of fast is not just to reflect on those who have nothing, rather it is to attain more piety, trying to attain better morals in words and actions. Muslims still give charity in fact it is compulsory upon then if the meet the conditions they have to pay 2.5% of their earnings.

Although you may have seen people ateatingo much at dusk that is up to them, at lease they are trying to fulfill their obligation and to become a better person.

  9. There is nothing preventing you from giving money during Ramadan or any other time of year.

Fasting is for you. The benefits of fasting is not simply to experience hunger, but to make you more aware of all your actions, your words, thoughts etc.

Donating money will definitely benefit others and Muslims are encouraged to help those who are less fortunate than them.
