  1. u r rite to some extent....but indian organic manure production is not to that extent it will suffice for whole farming area. second it will result in reduced yield in initial years which we cannot stand by at current growing population rate.... govt can other hand support organic farming but cannot bring down the subsidies to zero in any case...if done the cost of production will rise high living farmer in dark

  2. Of course, but they would not get beyond step 1, which is to introduce a bill in the House or Senate. Too many politicians have been given money for their election costs by megacompanies like Monsanto and agribusiness to even dare to vote on anything but a gerrymander of such a bill. Plenty of them own huge tracts of farming land which is used for quail and fox hunting and paid for by subsidies. They even court their backers by taking them out for a manly quail shot and bourbonfest.

Organic farmers must see if they can get some support on the state level, where less of the reps have been bought out by big business.

  3. The only way that organic or local farming (even better in my opinon) will take off is if we support it.  This can be through a variety of methods.  Going to local farmers markets getting to know your farms is my favorite method.  Other ways include contacting congress persons about your thoughts on this issue.  The current farm bill is coming up for vote in Congress it would be a good point to show your support for certain issues with your congress persons if this issue is truly important to you. Another way might be to support your local organic farmers organization with a donation.  They are found easily with a search with your state and organic farmers association.

  4. The primary advantage to Organic residues as fertilizers lies in the fact that the organic residue contains all required nutrients at relatively balanced levels.  Chemical fertilizers like Urea, Ammonium Sulfate, Ammonium Phosphate, etc. are relatively pure compounds which causes imbalances in fertility.

On the flip side, some of the most poisonous substances are pure organic compounds.  Aflatoxin and Strychnine come to mind.

  5. Yes, but our economy is not sutiable for that.

  6. The government helps farmers in a number of ways but they don't really care how you do a thing, just that you do it. There will be changes obviously when the powers that be see that "the means to the end" is as important. That will happen only when someone starts to ping on the government, and those people are called "Lobbyists". There has to be money involved somewhere to lobby effectively and at a glance, the organic movement still has holes in the knees of it's jeans and a dusty hand-me-down jacket with patches on it's sleeves.

Times are changing and when people understand that a lot of environmental issues that are finally being looked at can be fixed partly by being organically minded and motivated, it will happen.

People always lament that nothing is ever done, that the government and the people are always closing the barn door after the horse is long gone. I agree, but what you're seeing is a lengthy process of looking at a thing and analyzing it before acting. The government, and the people are more like an elephant, slow to get going but step aside once it gets going or you'll be run down by the size and weight of it.

So the barn door? After looking at replacing the whole door, or building a new barn, or selling the horse for short money, we will settle on fixing the latch and all will be well, down the line.

As long as YOU and everyone else that gives a flying fu fa keeps caring and bringing it up, then it will get done. You just keep caring and I will too.
