Instructions post-root canal?

Question

I just returned to work from having my first root canal done. The dentist only made the paths for the fillings and put a temporary filling in until my next appointment one week from today for the permanent fillings. He did not give me any special instructions for after care for today. Does anyone know the "rules" post root canal? i.e. Eating, drinking, brushing.... I don't want to mess anything up and be in any more pain than I am currently in. I would really appreciate it.

dont chew anything for atleast two hours...then its fine...after my temporary filling, i had an apple and found the filling coming off....so be careful till the filling sets..
