So heres my question I will have no car but I do have rental up to $75 a day in order for me to get the rental do they need to know status of the shop or wherever i get my car fixed? can they just give me the rental knowing that my car is getting fixed?

  1. If you have rental coverage you are entitled to a rental of a car in the same general class and size of vehicle that yours is.  The will reimburse you (probably going to have to put it on your credit card initially) for the time it takes for the repairs to be done by a regular body shop or dealer.  If it should take 4 or 5 days but your buddy takes 3 weeks to repair it in his spare time, you will be out of luck for the other 2 weeks.  Also, the insurance company will probably make a check payable to the Repair Shop and not to you.  Especially if there is a loan on the car and you are making payments still.  The Lien Holder is entitled to the protection that the car does actually get fixed, and that you don't just put the money in your pocket and not fix " Their Car ".  It is theirs legally until you finish paying off the loan.  Hope this helps !!!
