Insurance Advertising and Marketing??

I just started my career as a Licensed Insurance Agent (Life and Health) and work for a company that supplies a small amount of leads. This company basically subcontracts us, they give us everything we need and send us off into the world of selling insurance. We have weekly meetings, and such, so its an organized business, but we are responsible for all of our own advertising and such. My question is, what is an easy way to get in front of people, and let them know about me?? My boss has told me to stop by small businesses and introduce my self, follow up with them in a few days, and try to set appts. Call leads... ect. My problem is I have got a severe case of stage-fright. Any advice??

  1. Invest in a really great website that will create qualified leads for you.  www.salesgrowthgroup.com

  2. In your situation, there is big power in networking and building relationships through connecting with biz owners.

Join a local small business association (or just attend their meetings but usually at a higher cost).  By attending weekly/monthly meetings you will get to know more people and make more connections - the sales approach will be 'warmer', rather than cold.  Volunteer to help out on committees, etc.

Also try to connect with trade associations (e.g. dentist association, doctors association, lawyers association, etc.) - talk to the Executive Director for each of the associations (use a search engine to find associations in your region).  See if you can put together an insurance package for businesses within the industry/trade association - you'll get access to a lot of potential customers.  Present the package/plan to the Executive Director - if they come on board, they will help you sell.

    Good luck.

  3. you could try to obtain as much as resource as you can by search the keyword in search engine,if you have good luck there, then your problem solved.however,if you could not find the answer by doing that, here is the relevant resource i prefered.http://heath-insurance.tips-free.info/he...

  4. Go visit as many networking groups that you can find.  Search for them in your local area on google.  Many of them you have to pay to join, but you can usually visit them for free at least 2 times.  When you go there, make sure to talk to every person.  The best part about being a newbie is that they come to YOU!

They also force you to stand up and say who you are and what your business is.  Write down a 30 second speech and practice, practice, practice.  Get used to telling your Elevator Pitch quickly, and then ask them about themselves.  Get them talking.  Even though they are doing the talking, and you are listening, they consider you a good conversationalist...but you better listen!  And if they don't need your service, ask them who they know.

Another source is to go to www.meetup.com or go to your local Chamber of Commerce.  they both want you to meet as many people as possible.

Cold calling is the toughest game out there.  Start with some nice networking people and build up to the cold calling.  Or....just get good at networking, and then you don't HAVE to cold call!

Good luck, and have FUN with it!
