  1. Dude, I've taken a bunch of CPCU's.  If you study based on key areas, you're not going to be able to pass the test.   You have to know EVERYTHING, and know it cold.

Ever taken a CPCU test before?  They are ESSAY tests.  They'll ask a question, and you'll be expected to apply information from 6-8 different areas, in that one ESSAY.

  2. I passed the CPCU 520 in '06 and it is the same edition today.  I have passed 2 so far.  I would suggest focusing on the course guide.  The book can be very overwhelming if you read it cover to cover.  My typical approach is to write in the answers in the review questions and supplement with the book if you need clarification.  Once you fill in all the answers spend about 2 weeks before the test reading the questions over and over and make sure to also study the practice exam.  Flashcards help as well for the vocab.  My typicaly study period is 8-10 weeks of around 2 or 3 chapters a week.  Hope that helps you and good luck it will be worth it when we finish!!

  3. I never took that exam but I have used the insurance achievement study material and it always gets you zoned in on the right areas.
