  1. If you can also do business insurance in the state of AZ then contact me, I may become a client.

    (General Liability, Worker's Comp)

  2. How about going to an emergency room?

    .

When the people come in, ask if they are insured by Oboe Insurance Company  (or whatever company).  If they are insured by your company, help them through the claims process.  If not, then  without 'solicitation' business, ask  them to contact you if they need help, to phone you.

By having them phone you, you do not invest too much time on this day.

You get to help some people who will become your clients later.   Sowing seeds.

Then, if you ever want to opener your own office, call me.

  3. Do you want to do Group or Individual?  Focus on one particular market, then pick a kind of business.  Be willing to write anything, but pick what you're going to focus on.  You've got to find or make your niche first.  There are lots of them out there... what do you WANT to do?  What will make you happy?

If you have friends, where do they work?  Do you have a Yellow Pages (or equivalent)?  Start with the letter A.  Does anyone in your family consider themselves Self Employed, or own a business?  Starting with people who know and trust you is usually easier.

    ASK EVERYONE FOR REFERALS.

The reality is, everyone needs health insurance.  If that's what your focus is, find inexpensive products and offer them as a solution to the rising cost of health insurance (remember to get licensed with the companies you want to sell FIRST, and always, always, always get E&O insurance, even if the carriers you want to work don't demand it).

Depending on your state, Emergency Room-sitting might be illegal.  Be very careful with that particular suggestion.  Before you begin active solicitation, check to make certain you are not violating any of the rules and regulations (should be listed on your state's Department of Insurance website) for marketing, advertising or soliciting.

  4. I recommend buying from an Internet lead provider such as iLeads.com, at http://www.ileads.com   An Internet lead is pre-qualified in the sense that the consumer has already performed a search with a search engine, looking for a solution to a problem. They have then taken the time to fill out a form, requesting a quote. A good lead provider “scrubs” the lead to make sure the data is valid before sending it to you. All of this is done in seconds after the consumer fills out the form. The nice thing about iLeads.com is that they enhance their insurance leads with data from First American Financial, so you will have a better handle on how serious and qualified the lead is and perhaps even be able to prepare a quote before you call. Good luck!

  5. Try writing articles in your local newspaper to build yourself as an expert.  Attract people to you. Instead of wasiting your time cold calling (it's like chopping down a tree with a hammer...it will probably work, but it will take a lot more time and effort), make them call you.  Google search (I mean, yahoo search..haha) Affinity Marketing or the law of attraction and you will get some ideas.  I also just started reading "Take Your Business The Next Level" by Duncan MacPherson and David Miller and so far it seems to talk a lot about that stuff....might be worth a look for ya.

  6. You should start at any field you are comfortable with. If you have more knowledge with the other field, I would suggest you do what you are more confident in doing. Good luck.

  7. Kimberly,

Best place for good leads at a very low cost, is your local Chamber of Commerce.  Most Chambers sponsor monthly "Mixers"  where members go to promote their products.  They expect to be asked about their business and expect people to promote theirs.  I used to sell one or two Disability Income  policies a month as a result of meeting accountants, lawyers, and small business types.  The cost is usuall $10 to $20 for each mixer and you'll get a lot of good contacts, usually some good food, and sometimes some good entertainment.  And if you are a member of the Chamber the mixer is usually free.  If you live in a Metro area like Phoenix, there are at least 10 chambers.  So you could be meeting people 10 afternoons a month for $200 or less and that's much better than expensive "Lead" programs, and they are fun to attend.

    Good Luck,

    Grampy

  8. If you can get me insurance for my son then I can be your client i live in texas though! How much do you actually know. he has to pre-existing conditions though, GOODLUCK!
