hi i just booked car insurance now i want to get road tax, can i do it online. or at post office?

my welcome packs getting sent out in the post but that might not come for few days.

can i get road tax now?

they couldnt email me a cover note?

help!?

  1. I usually do mine online when I get my reminder. But you'll be able to get it from the Post Office with your V1 log book. You might need your car insurance cover letter.


  2. You can buy a tax disc at most Post Offices but you need to take a valid certificate of Insurance or cover note and a valid MOT Certificate if you need one for your vehicle.

    As you don't have proof of Insurance yet you must wait until the certificate or cover note arrives.

    I would get in touch with the company who have insured the car. They have to offer a cover note. Demand one.

  3. As long as the insurance company have entered the insurance on the data base (and that can take up to 24 hours) then you can tax online at the DVLA website

  4. Do it online or buy phone, the vehicle’s insurance will be electronically checked with the MID.

  6. you should be able to do it online providing you have been given your policy number by your insurers. try it
