Does anyony have or have heard anything about United Teacher Associates Insurance Company? I signed up for a cancer policy w/ them last year when a representative came to my job, but I've never received any of my paper work. I've requested info regarding my policy but to date have never recieved anything. I don't even recieve a bill because it's automatically w/drawn form my account.

  1. Due to the multiple problems that can arise in automatic withdrawals between the bank and insurance company the bank usually has a telephone number attached to the monthly transaction processed by your bank.  Your bank's customer service department can give you that 800 number.  Call it and tell them you need a duplicate policy mailed out and be sure to check the address they have on file and make sure it's your mailing address.  This and much more information on dealing with Texas Health Insurance Companies and for that matter from any other state in the USA.  The site is http://www.lvhealthins.com

  2. Go to your human resources department/rep. That is not normal and you should report it immediately. It could also be that your HR department is not on the ball and never did their work correctly (whether is be getting you your info, or even getting you signed up at all). If the problem is your HR department, go over their heads and explain that you are getting payroll deductions for insurance you have never received. This is a breach of not only insurance laws, but corporate compliance laws. If you have never been enrolled in this plan, you are entitled to a refund of the money you have paid. Good luck.

  3. Call them.

And a couple questions . . . do you have a stroke policy?  How about a heart attack policy?  How about an old age policy?  Kidney failure?

Do you buy your car insurance, insuring only against which color car hits you?

I think policies that only insure against one thing, are a ripoff.  Define the goal, and buy the proper policy, which is NOT disease specific.  If you want life insurance, buy LIFE insurance.  If you want health insurance, or disability, buy health or disability.

Cancer insurance is a great deal - for the insurance company.  Not such a great deal for the guy who buys it.
