Insurance claim so soon ?

I got home insurance around one and a half months ago, Yet ive not received no documents of my policy (Ive phoned 3 times allready asking where they are)

My bike got stolen few nights ago, Ive only just got home from being away so need to go to the police tommorow.

The stolen item was my push bike, £400 worth, was locked to the balcony on the 1st floor. Some idiot somehow got up with something to cut the lock.

Now, Im guessing im covered right away from 1stQuote but im worried about claiming soon after ive just joined them.

How is this going to work out, how dose this process work.

my Bike is covered I know that much.

  1. What's the deductible on your Home Insurance?

The deductible is the part of the loss you have to pay before the policy kicks in.

Let's say your piece is  ÃƒÂ‚£500.

If you file a claim, the insurance copy will not pay you anything.

More over, since you've openned a claim, even though no money was paid out, it's likely that your insurer will drop your policy at it's next renewal as your risk profile has increased.  Kind of a, "Well she's filed once, she's likely to file again" mentality.

  2. If you have paid either the full amount or the first premium you should be covered. The only thing they might query is why it was not inside your premises while you were away.

  3. I would check as it sounds as if you live in a flat and it could be a communal area the bike is kept in? Means nothing if you claim straight away but have you paid anything?
