I had been part of an accident in Aug 08 where I was hit from the back by a car. I filed for damages with my insurance company and received it. I had $2000 deductible and paid the same for repairs. Now my Case is sent for arbitration. The other party who are at fault are extending the date of the arbitration. They have requested for extension for 3 time now..I am very frustrated since my insurance company seems to be doing nothing about it.. Can someone help in letting me know what I should do for expediting the case.

  1. You cannot do anything.  You must wait.  Your insurance company does not have any control over the extensions the other party is filing.  Most companies use Arbitration Forums, Inc.  AF authorizes the "adjournment".   It is possible that the other insurance company is dealing with coverage issues, or does not have adequate supporting documentation.

    Sorry, be patient.

  2. All you can do is wait.  Believe me, your insurance wants their money back as bad as you want your deductible back.

  3. August 08 isn't here yet.

You need to ask your agent to talk to the subrogation unit.   But it's the COURT that's granting extensions, and there's not much you can do about that!

  4. Wait a minute....August 08 isn't even here yet!!  Trusting you mean 2007, that's not really a long time to wait for a settlement or arbitration.  Unfortunately, you have to just wait it out.

If it's a policy limits issue, your adjuster should have that information by now and they be able to advise you.
