Insurance for cop car?

what insurance company do the police use? when the cops are on a high speed chase and need to buckside or crash onto the getaway car the police department would surely need a special kind of car insurance?

Our city advertises for bids. The insurance carrier covers the entire city, not just the police department. Our deductible for squad cars is $5,000, which helps keep the premiums lower. Other city cars do not carry that high of a deductible.

depending on the size of the department, and the city they exist in, they may be self insured. i work for a city/parish style of government and they are self insured. Can you imagine the rates if you had to cover 700 vehicles just in my police dept.
