  1. Well you are young so your rates are going to be higher than what most adults are paying, and they are going to be even higher if you are not on your parent's policy.  Insurance rates do tend to be higher if you live in the city because the crime rate is usually higher in the city.

    The good thing is that the car you are trying to insure is an older car.  Also, if you are only planning on driving on the weekends, make sure you tell your insurance company.  Most companies will give you a discount if you drive less than a certain amount of miles per month.  Are you a student? If so, ask your company about the good student discount (requires B average or better). It is important that you always check to see if there are any special discounts that the company will offer you.

    The best thing you can do to get a ball park idea of how much insurance is going to cost you is to compare rate quotes from 3-5 different insurance companies.  The more quotes you get the better chance you will get a cheap rate. Some insurance companies actually specialize in insuring teenage drivers. The site below is really helpful because it allows you to compare quotes for all of the insurance companies in your area for free so you can find the cheapest rate possible.

  2. I would like to recommend you possess as much information as you can before taking action,here is a good place for that purpose.http://car-insurance.online-helpers.info...

  3. see this site http://top-cheap-auto-insurance.blogspot...

    many thing can help you there...

    good luck...

  4. Your cost will be around $4K or above (just for liability).  No kidding.  It might be cheaper to take a taxi if you live downtown.

    Also 1986 tow cars are carburetor engine.  When they get old, they become incredible difficult to maintain and they use a lot of gas.  Most young mechanics don't have a clue on how to trouble shoot those old engines.

    ====

    Google "insurance quote"  and get more accurate quote.  In general people at age 16 - 24 gets into accident the most.

    Good Luck...
