Question:

Insurance / loss adjuster query?

We've got an ongoing insurance claim which has been passed to a loss adjuster, we've had an independent valuation for the work to be done and it's going to cost more than the loss adjuster has said it will cost. When we spoke directly to our insurance company about this they told us the loss adjuster had submitted an amount twice the value of what they had told us.(I think this was a mistake on their part for telling us)

Is this common practice or are the loss adjuster taking the pi$$, telling us it will cost less but submitting a higher figure so they make extra profit on the job whilst we have to pay out of our pocket for the difference.

  1. Loss adjusters do not inform you of a low figure and then submit a higher figure so they make extra profit on the job - that is fraud within the industry and is just a little bit more than highly unlikely!

I think what we're talking about here is some form of communication and you should be contacting the loss adjuster to ask him/her about this instead of posting your query here.

  2. I'd like to know if this loss adjuster is the same one as we had dealings with!  You dont have to name him - just initials will do
