  1. after you discuss with your wife in a very polite way why it is vital to exchange the information and get police report, i would contact my insurance carrier and report the incident....remember, polite!

  2. Hey from my experience, if it was your fault...I will not give you my ins info, that only gives you the ability to call my ins co and try to file a claim against me. If you have a police report than you have their info, otherwise it's he said she said, and the ins co will have to work it out.

When a lady backed over my car in her truck and I called her ins co and they tried every which way to turn into my fault. I told them why you don't you call her and ask what happened and then ask her why she doesn't have my info, the reason is it was not my fault. I wasn't even in my car!

I believe what the person is getting at is are you paying out of your pocket to advoid going through the ins co and having your rates possibly go up because of it, or do you want them to call you ins co to have this taken care of.

  3. You tell her, you go through your insurance, and we'll go through ours; if you want MY insurance company to contact you, you have to give me your information.

    Period.

Her information is going to be on the police report, anyway.

Don't try to settle this on your own; she sounds squirrelly.

  4. Refer to woman to your insurance carrier.  It is up to her to make a police report and get her car repaired, dealing with your insurance, etc.

  6. Give her the name of you insurance company.......you did call and report it?      You do have a police report?        The other woman most likely has no insurance.........you DID call the police?      Right..........

  7. Sounds pretty suspicious, perhaps the other driver didn't even have coverage.  Suggest you talk to your insurance agent.   The insurance company you're with might be interested in doing an investigation.

  8. Report a claim to your insurance company and then give the contact info to the woman. If you have covergae for the accident, you shouldn't be the one who's doing all the leg work. That's what you pay insurance for.
