Question:

Insurance on a twin turbo 3000gt?

So, I was looking into buying a 3000gt vr4, and my dad said the insurance would shoot way up. So, I was wondering if anyone else had any experience with turbos and their insurance costs vs. non turboed cars. Also, is there anyone out there with one of these that could specifically help me out, and tell me more about the vehicle and what they are paying for insurance?

  1. Insurance is very individual because it's based on your drivers record, s*x, age, and a number of other variables such

as location, credit rating and type of vehicle being insured.

The easiest way to find the cheapest auto insurance in the USA is to fill one form at

    there's more in google

This will compare all insurance companies in the 50 states to find which companies offer the best prices according to

where you live and who you

are so you are bound to find something that suits you, if  it works out remember my points please :)

  3. Wow, nice car.  There are so many variables involved with insurance costs, it's hard to even fathom what your rate might be.  Call an agent in your area, they should be able to give you a quote over the phone.    If you are considered a "young driver" you may have trouble finding an underwriter to write the policy.  Insurance cost on a turbo vs. non-turbo vehicle can be anywhere from 25% to 45% higher, again with those same variables.  Hope this helps......Good Luck!

  4. LJSF,

I never had a 3000GT. However, a few years ago I bought a Porsche 911SC. I was asked if it was a turbo (it wasn't). The insurance for the turbo would have been about 22% more - and that's with me having a totally clean driving record, and being in my 40s.

There are a lot of variables for insurance costs: your age and record, miles driven, location, etc. Also, the insurance agency.

I'd recommend you make some phone calls to insurance companies and find out what they would charge you.
