Ive ordered an item of Ebay. I added insurance was only 75p for expensive item. Thought it was worth it. Do you have to sign for items that are insured and if so can others do it for you?? If it is not needed to be signed if it was lost in post how do you go about getting the money back??

Just asking because I live in student halls and they would have to sign for it.

Thanks :o)

  1. It depends on how it was shipped and if the sender requested a signature. If it a signature is required usually anyone can sign, if no one is home the shipper will leave a note on the door or in the mail box alerting you to the next delivery attempt. If the item never shows or is damaged you have to contact the seller or shipper if you have the tracking number.

  2. Items that are insured don't necessarily have to be signed for.  When I send items with insurance, I add delivery confirmation.  That tells me when the item got to the address.  If I purchased insurance, the buyer would have to let me know and we would file a claim to USPS together.  No signature is required unless the sender purchased the signature option when sending it.
