Question:

Insurance problem?

We had a very good health insurance for our daughter who is a freshman. However, the university still charged us about $800 for three semesters. Since this was electrons bill payment, we didn't notice that. However, in the application, my daughter filled the information on insurance. The school said that it was not completed. But the school never told us that the application for waiver of health insurance was not completed, and never gave my daughter a letter to show that she was covered by school's insurance. Can we get the money back?

  1. Likely not.  Universities have so many hidden taxes and fees, it's really hard to cut through the red tape of "the system".

They're working off information from the application.

  2. you can probably get the money back if you invest a lot of time and effort complaining about the circumstances and can prove that you had other coverage all that time (and therefore would not need the school's coverage)
